BISTEC's Training Initiatives
Operating a computer system wisely is what we at BISTEC view as an initial step in closing the digital divide. One way of accomplishing this is by establishing hands-on classroom curriculum aimed at familiarizing computer users more with important aspects of a computer system. Our overall objective is to raise the security awareness level in this information age which is mostly influenced by computers.
The key to protecting our privacy and personal identification, and those of our children when using the Internet is knowing how to operate a system effectively, monitoring its behavior and taking appropriate action when necessary. If most of us were familiar with computers as we are with our vehicles, then we would have less to worry about. In achieving our goal, which is to help you, we at BISTEC concentrate efforts on helping you understand what constitutes safe computing by exposing you to some of the vital properties of information assurance -
"the practice of managing information-related risks".
With the high number of computer and Internet related crimes on the rise - we place security awareness high on our agenda.
